Opt-out

There is nothing to switch off.

You are here because a site you visited uses pisi.to. The good news is that this page is very short.

There is no cookie to reject

pisi.to writes absolutely nothing into your browser. No cookies, no localStorage, no sessionStorage, no fingerprint cache. Open the dev tools, look at this site's storage, and you will find nothing of ours.

A classic opt-out works by storing a cookie that says "do not count this one". That would be absurd: to stop writing nothing, we would have to start writing something.

There is no profile to erase

We do not know who you are, and that is not a figure of speech. To count unique visitors we use a number computed with a random ingredient that is destroyed every night. Tomorrow, the same browser from the same house yields a different number, unrelated to today's.

There is no profile, no history and no way to follow you from one site to another. Your visit to flat A and your visit to flat B are two rows nobody can join.

What the site you visited knows

That today someone viewed a given page, from a given city, with a given browser, arriving from a given place. Nothing else, and always in aggregate. You have it field by field on the data page, with real examples.

If you are the flat owner

There is one thing you can switch off: your own visits. From your dashboard, the "exclude this browser" button writes a key into your localStorage and the key stops counting whatever you do. It is the script's only read of storage, and it works only in the browser where you press it.

You can also enable "respect DNT and GPC" in the flat settings if you want those signals honoured, though by default they are ignored because there is no personal data to protect.

If you would rather block it anyway

Fair enough. Any content blocker stops the key without breaking the site you are reading, because the script touches nothing on the page: it sends a POST and shuts up.

And if you doubt any of this, the key's source is published unminified precisely so that it can be read.
